Edastame head soovid Living Lakes presidendilt Marion Hammerlilt!

21. detsember 2015

Dear friends of the Living Lakes Network and of Global Nature Fund,

it is getting quiet now in the office and only a few people are still working and trying to finish the urgent reports and tasks before Christmas.

I am one of them – and if you read this I hope that you (!) will be able to leave the office soon and start some relaxing holidays collecting new energy for the upcoming New Year!

It is very sad to say, but 2015 was a rather horrible year – so many wars and conflicts, natural and man-made catastrophes. The results of the Climate Conference COP 21 in Paris are better than we expected, but the most difficult is yet to come … to implement actions urgently.

And in all this turmoil - us - fighting for the protection of lakes, wildlife, ecosystems and insisting that there is an alternative way to the unsustainable development which is growing year by year.

Sometimes it is not easy to stay optimistic – but we need to do so and to be persistent. And if we continue supporting each other, our capacities are big and we will achieve smaller and bigger successes!

Every end of the year, I am really astonished about your engagement and commitment – the impressive work our Living Lakes partner achieved with rather limited resources but with a very big amount of enthusiasm and creativity!

Here is a German poem which says (more or less):

The secret of Christmas is,

that during our searching for the big and extraordinary

we find the small and unimpressive – but valuable!

In the name of the GNF Board, I wish you all some relaxing (Christmas) holidays with your beloved ones and a very good start into the New Year 2016!

A big hug from Lake Constance to all of you,

Marion
